Who may use this service? You may use the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service providing you are a member of the Johnson & Wales University Community (staff, faculty, or currently registered student); you have a current Johnson & Wales Univ. Library barcode; and you do not have overdue books or outstanding library fines. Special Borrowers may not use this service. Interlibrary Loan request forms are available online. What may be requested? Materials which are not available in the Johnson & Wales Library or through the HELIN member schools may be requested from another library through Interlibrary Loan. Books, journal articles, newspaper articles, theses and dissertations may be requested. Generally, libraries do not lend the following materials: entire journal issues, newspapers, videos, reference material and reserve material. How many items can be requested? There is no limit to the number of request forms that may be submitted, however only three (3) requests per person per day will be processed. How long will it take? Books and articles may take two or more weeks to arrive. Articles may take less time. The lending library determines the loan periods and renewals and may also impose restrictions on the use of materials such as "library use only." How much will it cost? Most requests are filled free of charge. Any fees charged by the lending library will be passed on to the borrower. How will I know when my book or article is in? Patrons are notified by phone or email when the material arrives. Materials are picked up at the Circulation Desk. You can also check the status of your requests online. Return responsibility Borrowers are financially responsible for damaged or lost books. Replacement cost is determined by the lending library.
