When you first start your research project, make sure you understand your assignment.
Can’t think of a topic to research?
Once you have selected a topic to research, consider the following:
Now that you have established a topic, think about the research questions that you want to answer. What is it about the topic you want to know? What terms, concepts, or keywords will you initially use to search in the Library Catalog and Databases? Next, you’ll want to brainstorm additional keywords.
Example
Topic: Endangered Species Act
Research Questions: What is the Endangered Species Act? What is the goal of this legislation? What animals are on the endangered species list? How does an animal get added/removed from the list?
