The Library Catalog allows you to search for books and videos owned by the Denver Campus Library. If you are interested in borrowing an item that is already checked out, you can place a hold or recall on the item. What's the difference?
Holds = I want it next.
When you place a hold, you are asking to be notified when the item has been
returned to the Library. You will receive an email that it is ready to be
picked up at the Check-out Desk. To place a hold on an item, stop by the Information
desk; only Library staff can place holds.
Recalls = I want it now.
If you cannot wait until the due date, then you can recall the item
(or "Request it") through the Library Catalog. By doing so,
the borrower who currently has the item will be sent a recall notice that
changes the due date of the item. Items due within 7 days are not eligible for recall (this includes videorecordings and reserves). The borrower with the item has 7 days to
return the item, otherwise he/she will start accruing fines. Fines on recalled
items are $1.50 per day, per item. When the book is returned, you will be
notified by e-mail that it is ready to be picked up at the Check-out Desk. You have 5 days to pickup the item.
All circulating books are subject to recalls immediately after they have been checked
out.
