Currently registered students and currently employed faculty and staff of the University are welcome to borrow materials from the Johnson & Wales University’s (JWU) Charlotte Campus Library. A current and valid Johnson & Wales University ID is required.
Books Students may borrow non-reference and non-reserve books for a loan period of two weeks. Students may check out up to 3 books at a time (or 2 books and 1 video).
Videos The library has a growing collection of videos/DVDs. Students may check out one video at a time from the remainder of the collection for a loan period of one week. A small portion of this collection is designated as reserve and may only be viewed in the library. The conference/video rooms located at the rear of the library are available for students on a first come, first serve basis. Three of these rooms contain a VCR, DVD player, and a television for student use.
Renewals Books may be renewed twice for a loan period of one additional week for each renewal. Renewals may be done in person by calling or visiting the Circulation Desk. Additionally, students can also renew material directly through this website by going to the "My Library Account" page through the HELIN Catalog. Once there, simply enter the name and barcode number as it appears on the Johnson & Wales University ID card.
Fines Failure to return a book or video on time will result in a fine of $.50 per day; a minimum replacement fee of $50 along with an additional $20 service fee will be charged for each item lost (If the item is returned the replacement fee is waived but the student is still accountable for the service fee.). All borrowing privileges will be suspended until fines are paid. If a fine is not paid the students diploma will be withheld at time of graduation.
Holds
Students, staff, and faculty may request that the library hold an item for check-out. Up to three items can be held at the reference desk for three days.
Interlibrary Loan If Faculty or Staff are unable to locate needed materials through the JWU Charlotte Campus Library an interlibrary loan request can be made for the item(s). Interlibrary Loan request forms are available online. Please submit completed form to Jean Moats. ILL is currently only available for Faculty and Staff.
Miami
