Other Library Collections
Reserve Materials Many faculty place special, recommended, or required materials on reserve behind the reference desk. These materials may be used within the Library.
Strope Collection The Charlotte Campus library contains an exceptional culinary collection that was donated in loving memory of Dee Jay Strope by her family. Mrs. Strope was an avid collector of cookbooks as represented in this collection which contains approximately 4,500 items dating from the 1870’s through 2002. This collection is located in the back of the library by the conference rooms. Many of these books are available for checkout using your University ID. The same check-out period, renewal guidelines, and late charges for other books apply to the Strope Collection.
Percolator The Percolator was created in January of 2007 as a small collection of popular books and videos intended for recreational use by Johnson & Wales Charlotte campus students. Materials in this collection circulate according to regular library loan rules for DVDs and books. The exception to this rule is the Book Exchange, consisting mostly of less expensive paperbacks. With the Book Exchange, students are encouraged to "leave a book behind" when they borrow one. Much more than just a collection the Percolator is intended to be a separate "hang out" and "maximum comfort" space within the library. As such, it is furnished with soft seating, a comfortable space arrangement, and unique decor.
