Borrowing Policies Students are required to have their valid Johnson & Wales University ID Card with barcode to borrow materials from the Barry L. Gleim library and to use "in-house" reserve and reference items.

Applications Students are asked to complete an application to borrow library materials each year. Borrowing privileges may be suspended at the discretion of the Librarian. As a reminder, please do not check out library materials for friends unless you want to pay for what they lose

Circulation Limits
• Culinary books, labeled TP, TS, or TX: limit of three, for one week
• Other books, including non-fiction, fiction, and paperbacks: no limit, for three weeks
• Magazines: not more than two of the same title, for one week
• Videocassettes: limit of two, for three days
• Items may be renewed once, unless someone else has placed a reserve request.
• Items that do not leave the library are reference books, current issue magazines, books on reserve, newspapers, vertical files, and newsletters.

Fines & Fees
• Overdue notices are mailed and/or emailed to you.
• Final overdue notices are mailed to your permanent address. Final costs include replacement fees and overdue charges. Bills for library fines or fees will be added to your university account, unless paid at the library in a timely manner.
• Fines accrue at ten cents per day per item, except videos at fifty cents per day. A student with overdue fines of $5 or more may not borrow additional materials until the fees are paid.
• Replacement costs are $60 for lost or damaged books, $60 for videos, $35 for magazines, plus any overdue fines accrued.
• Anyone checking out a high-value book or video must sign that he/she has been informed of the replacement cost of the item and has agreed to pay that cost plus a $10 processing fee.
• It is in your best interest to inform the library as soon as you think you have misplaced library materials.
