Collection Development Policy The Johnson & Wales University Library operates as a creative force in providing collections and information services that primarily support current and anticipated curriculums. Additionally, we facilitate basic research, meet appropriate criteria for accreditation, and serve as a resource for the academic and administrative offices of the University.

The Library acquires information resources in a variety of formats (e.g. books, journals, newspapers, CD-ROMs, video, and audiotapes). The Library also acquires access to information through direct licensing of research databases and consortia purchasing of online information resources.

Purchasing Recommendations The library also accepts recommendations from Johnson & Wales University students, faculty and staff for book and video recording purchases, as well as recommendations for new subscriptions to journals and newspapers. Recommendations will be weighed on the basis of the principles identified in the Library Collection Development Policy.

Gifts In addition to purchasing materials, the library does accept donated resources. Before donating, please review our gift policy and then submit a written inventory detailing the title, publisher, date of publication, and physical condition of each item you wish to donate to the campus of your choice.
